MEDIA RELEASE - LOCAL SENIORS ENJOY AN INFORMATIVE MORNING TEA - 6 SEPTEMBER 2019

Federal Member for Greenway, Michelle Rowland MP, was recently joined by over 120 local residents for a Seniors Morning Tea in The Ponds.

Themed around September’s Dementia Awareness Month, guest speakers encouraged local residents to eat healthily, keep mentally and physically active, and remain socially engaged with the wider community.

“It was fantastic to again share a cup of tea and a chat with so many local seniors”, Ms Rowland said.

“These morning teas are a wonderful opportunity for residents to connect with community groups and services from across the Blacktown area”.

Ms Rowland thanked speakers from Dementia Australia, Great Community Transport, the Blacktown Older Women’s Network and the Riverstone Men’s Shed for their participation.

“Organisations like these are one of many reasons why our community is such a great place to live”, Ms Rowland said.

Guests were also entertained by the choir from St Mark’s Catholic College.

“I want to give a very special thank you to the choir from St Mark’s. Their beautiful rendition of the Australian national anthem was certainly a highlight from this morning”, Ms Rowland said.

Residents are encouraged to contact Ms Rowland’s office on 9671 4780 for further information about the community organisations at the morning tea.
