MEDIA RELEASE - SMALL BUSINESS’ SHOCKING INDICTMENT ON TURNBULL’S NBN - 10 FEBRUARY 2018

09 February 2018

With Stephen Jones MP, Shadow Minister for Regional Communications

According to reports, a new survey by ASX-listed Reckon has revealed a staggering 83 per cent of small business lack confidence in the delivery of Turnbull’s second-rate NBN.

54 per cent of small business also believe they will be left behind as the digital economy develops with technology infrastructure given as a key barrier to starting new business.

This follows a survey by the NSW business chamber which reported 43 per cent of businesses surveyed were either dissatisfied or very dissatisfied with the NBN.

This is a damning indictment on Turnbull’s NBN and a stark warning to NBN Co.

In a week when NBN Co announced new products aimed at supporting large business, more needs to be done to cater to Australia’s small business community.

With the emergence of 5G services, the NBN’s continued poor performance will only increase the risk of more households and business abandoning the network.

The Government must get their act together and improve the reputation of the NBN with Australian business.
