MEDIA RELEASE - TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMPLAINTS SOAR UNDER INCOMPETENT MINISTER - 13 AUGUST 2017

12 August 2017

It appears there is one thing the ‘Fifield Triangle’ has not been able to pacify out of existence — complaints about the NBN.

Data released by the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) shows the average number of telecommunications complaints per service in operation has grown by 88 per cent under Minister Fifield’s watch.

The number of telecommunications complaints hit a peak of 9.0 complaints per 10,000 services in operation for the April-June 2017 quarter according to recent TIO data. In comparison, when Minister Fifield assumed the portfolio in late 2015, there were 4.8 complaints per 10,000 services in operation for the October-December 2015 quarter.

Yet despite the soaring level of complaints, the Minister for Urban Infrastructure, Paul Fletcher, stood up in Parliament last Thursday and declared Malcolm Turnbull's Fraudband to be on par with the moon landing.

That’s right folks….the Apollo 11 moon landing.

Perhaps Mr Fletcher, and Minister Fifield, should visit a pub of their choosing and try persuading its clientele that deploying 19th century copper has been a giant leap for mankind’.

That could be a difficult conversation.

Just another day for the out of touch and incompetent Turnbull Government.
