MEDIA RELEASE - 1 IN 6 HFC PREMISES IN NBN LIMBO - 13 SEPTEMBER 2017

13 September 2017

In a response 45 days overdue, NBN have revealed the HFC footprint made up 53 per cent of the total Service Class Zero pool in June 2017.

The 2018 Corporate Plan reports there were 800,000 HFC premises ready for service as of 30 June 2017, which indicates 1 in 6 HFC households cannot order an NBN service.

So it’s no coincidence the Minister delayed a straightforward response on this breakdown until after 4 September 2017, the date when the Chief NBN Engineer announced the ongoing problems with HFC have forced the company to change its approach.

Labor is pleased that its scrutiny of the NBN, and insistence on transparency, continues to embarrass the Turnbull Government into action.
