MEDIA RELEASE - MESSAGE TO MALCOLM TURNBULL: FOCUS ON FIXING THE INTERNET IN KINGS PARK AND KINGS LANGLEY, NOT KENYA - 11 OCTOBER 2017

11 October 2017

Malcolm Turnbull has once again shown he is completely out of touch when it comes to the frustrations of Greenway residents with his second-rate copper NBN.

First, Malcolm Turnbull went on radio and declared that the progress of his multi-technology mess was “in hand”. Even his interviewer challenged him, noting that the station switchboard lights up complains whenever the NBN is mentioned.

Then to add insult to injury, Malcolm Turnbull proudly defended his Fraudband network, basically saying we should all be grateful because the internet in Australia is better than in the African nation of Kenya.

With the bar set so low by this out of touch Prime Minister, it is little wonder residents in Greenway feel so let down by Malcolm Turnbull.

Malcolm Turnbull is fixated on defending his Fraudband against comparisons to Kenya, instead of listening to the widespread consumer complaints that have arisen from his botched rollout here in Australia, including poor speeds, connection issues and dropouts.

Under the current rollout there has been a 150 per cent increase in TIO complaints about NBN faults, and that is just the tip of Turnbull’s copper iceberg.

Despite a multitude of consumer complaints, the Turnbull Government is still rolling out a second-rate network that costs more and does less.

Malcolm Turnbull claims he has the NBN ‘in hand’. The NBN horror stories in the community tell a different story.

In The Ponds, I have heard countless stories of residents frustrated with their NBN connection. NBN problems are one of the most common issues I get complaints about in my office.

When you hear people from Seven Hills saying they would prefer to have their pre-NBN internet connection back, you would think that Malcolm Turnbull would start to listen. Sadly Malcolm Turnbull proves time and time again that he simply doesn’t care.

“Malcolm Turnbull must start listening to consumers, fix his broadband mess, and focus on internet access in Kings Park and Kings Langley, not Kenya.”
