MEDIA RELEASE - MICHELLE ROWLAND COLLECTING NAPPIES FOR WOMEN IN NEED - 11 OCTOBER 2017

11 October 2017

Michelle Rowland is calling on local families that have any leftover unused nappies to drop them into her office as part of the “Nappy Collective” initiative.

The Nappy Collective program runs Australia-wide with the aim to collect tens of thousands of leftover nappies. These nappies are then sorted and distributed to women’s shelters, programs for homeless mothers and young mothers in need.

Through the support of parents across Australia, The Nappy Collective has collected and distributed over 2 million nappies! All of the donated nappies help mothers in need with an essential item for their young children.

The next collection period opens on Monday 16 October and will run until Friday 27 October 2017.

Residents are invited to drop any nappies that they would like to donate to Michelle Rowland’s office at 230 Prospect Highway, Seven Hills between 9am-5pm.

“Children grow fast and as a mum I know there can often be nappies left over when children grow out of them. Any leftover nappies can make a huge difference for mothers doing it tough in the community”, Ms Rowland said.

“I encourage residents to drop any left-over nappies or nappy donations to my office, which will go to local mothers in need,” Ms Rowland said.

“I would like to thank all the local residents who have supported this initiative over the past four years that I have been collecting for The Nappy Collective. The generosity of our local community is so heartening and every year the collection only gets bigger.”

“Last year we had three incredibly kind women collect and donate over 5000 nappies, with donations from their family, friends and work colleagues. I was proud to recognise their incredible donation in Parliament earlier this year.”
