MEDIA RELEASE - VOLUNTEER GRANTS ROUND NOW OPEN! - 14 AUGUST 2018

14 August 2018

Community organisations are the lifeblood of our local area in Greenway. Our community needs and values its volunteers and their efforts to support and make a difference to our community.

I’m pleased to announce that grants between $1,000 and $5,000 are now available for 2018 to help not-for-profit community organisations or groups support their volunteers.

Grants are available to support practical measures, such as the purchase of small equipment items, reimbursement for volunteers’ fuel and transport costs, and contributions towards the cost of training and background screening checks.

These grants are designed to make volunteering easier, safer and more enjoyable and to support, encourage and increase participation in volunteering.

“Volunteers are the lifeblood of the local community in Greenway. Local residents go out of their way to support our community organisations and help those in need,” Federal Member for Greenway Michelle Rowland said.

“These grants help to support community organisation volunteers with some of the costs they incur through their work.

“We should all recognise the wonderful work of local volunteers and I hope these grants help local volunteering efforts to thrive,” Ms Rowland said.

The Community Grants Hub Hotline can be contacted on 1800 020 283 or at [email protected] for more information.

Applications for Volunteer Grants 2018 close at 2pm on Tuesday, 18 September 2018.
